ABOUT THE COURSE

The Domestic Violence in Mediation Seminar is a comprehensive 2-day, CLE-approved mediation training seminar that will focus on the unique challenges of mediating cases where domestic violence is or has been present. Individuals who complete this course will satisfy the domestic violence training requirements of the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution and will meet the statutory requirements regarding the mediation of cases involving domestic violence (See ALA CODE § 6-6-20). Participants who complete the course will satisfy the training requirement necessary to be listed as "Domestic Violence Trained" on the Alabama state court mediator roster maintained by the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution.

 

WHO CAN ATTEND

This course is open to anyone interested in learning about mediating cases where domestic violence exists. While there is no pre-requisite to attend, we recommend that participants complete a 40-hour divorce mediation course prior to this program or be registered to attend our 40-hour divorce mediation seminar within 6 months of this program. However, everyone interested in mediation is welcome to attend including new and experienced mediators, lawyers, judges, counselors, therapists, HR professionals, educators, undergraduate and graduate students, law students, clergy, health care professionals, business executives, ombuds, realtors, and anyone interested in helping families and individuals in mediation.

Sarah (Sally) Clark Bowers, JD, LCSW is a mediator, attorney, collaborative law practitioner, and licensed clinical social worker. Nearly a decade ago, Sally co-developed (with Troy) Alabama's FIRST domestic relations mediation seminar designed specifically for mediators in Alabama. Sally has practiced law in Alabama for over 35 years and has extensive experience in all areas of family law including divorce, dependency, post-divorce, and child advocacy. Sally is currently with Proctor & Vaughn (Of Counsel) in Sylacauga, AL.

SEMINAR REGISTRATION TRANSFER and CANCELLATION POLICY

Full Refund. Your seminar fee is fully refundable if you cancel your registration 21 or more days prior to the first day of the seminar, less a $50 administrative fee. All cancellations must be received in writing or via email.

 

Reschedule Anytime. If you must reschedule your attendance at a seminar -- even at the last minute -- you may transfer your registration without additional cost to another equally priced seminar within 24 months of the date of your original program. All reschedule requests must be in writing and received prior to the start of the seminar. (No-shows will not be eligible to reschedule).

 

Substitutions. If you are unable to attend a seminar for which you have registered, you may send a substitute in your place. If you need to send a substitute, we ask that you notify us at least 1 day in advance of your seminar, if possible.

 

Event Cancellation. In the highly unlikely event that Mediation CLE, Inc. must cancel or reschedule a program for which you are registered for any reason, we will refund your registration fees or transfer your registration to another program, whichever you choose.
